This morning I was excited to pick my first strawberries. We get really excited about each “first'“ from the garden. This made me think about “First Fruits”. Now I know when “first fruits” are mentioned we tend to automatically think about tithes and offerings. While that is certainly important, I tend to think that first fruits is so much more. In these times when so many are hurting, it is important to think about other ways that we might give of our first fruits. Sometimes our first fruits may be our time, our talents or anything that we have that we can share with someone else. It could simply be the joy that someone may get from hearing our voice or seeing our face. It may be picking up the phone and actually having a phone conversation with one of the elders or getting in our car and driving to someone’s house and waving from the car. It could be physically writing a card. It could be ordering a meal or box of cookies and having it anonymously delivered to someone. Please think about how you can share your time, talents and treasures with someone in need, even if just smile.
