So the lemon tree is STILL teaching. If you remember about two years ago, I was DONE with this lemon tree. I’d had it for about 10 years and no lemons! It was worthless. Barren. I had no hope that it would ever bear lemons so was about to cut it down. Holding on to a thread of hope, I gave it what I thought was one more year. And the next year, with all intentions of cutting it down, the lemon tree shouted “Look Up!” And lo and behold there at the very top of the tree were three little lemons. Just three little lemons there to bring hope. There were many lessons that the lemon tree gave me on that day. It told me to Be Patient, to Look Up and to Appreciate the Lemons in our lives.
Well….today, as I was going out to assess any damage that yesterday’s storm might have done to the garden, there was the lemon tree brightly smiling. It was full of sunshine and……..FULL OF LEMONS! I mean literally the tree is full of lemons from top to bottom. So much so, that there are little lemons falling all on the ground into my neighbors yard. The lemon tree looked down at me and laughed “How ya like me now?!”. When you think your situation might be dead, or when you have lost all hope of a harvest, hold on. Perhaps you have prayed and waited and prayed and waited so long that you are just sick and tired of being sick and tired. Be patient. Wait. Just “perhaps” the next season will be your harvest of abundance.
“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!” Psalms 31:24
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work in us”. Ephesians 3:20
