I’m just a small town Mississippi country girl trying to find my way in these United States of Texas; however, this past week I had the awesome privilege of spending a week in Ireland. It was an awesome experience. At one point as I stood and looked across the Atlantic Ocean, green pastures and rocky mountains, I had to ask myself….why am I here? One of the things that was prevalent in Ireland was that sheep were everywhere. In the valleys, across the green pastures and even on the ledges of the mountains. As I looked at the sheep on the mountain cliffs, I wondered…how did they get there? Did they wonder away from the herd? And how are they surviving? In the valleys, there were green pastures, full of grass, streams of water and sustenance. But on the cliffs of the mountains, it was bare, rocky, and dangerous. And the sheep up there, were usually alone. It was then that I was reminded of a passage from Habakkuk 3:19. “The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places.” What are hinds’ feet you ask"? A hind is a female deer that can place her back feet exactly where her front feet have been. In times of danger, she is able to run securely and scale unusually difficult terrain. It was then and there that I knew why I was in Ireland. Regardless of the obstacles I am facing, He will give me finds’ feet in my high places. Hallelujah!
