I Am My Father's Garden

These are the voices and teachings of my garden. The garden speaks to me, teaches me and disciplines me. For me, it is the Creator speaking through His creation.

Must Be Picked Every Day

IMG_1947.JPG

Okra must be picked every day.  Yes, every day!  Else wise, it will get too large and too hard to eat.  The okra at the top of the picture is too large and too hard to eat. All you can do is throw it away or dry it and use the seeds for next year's planting.   In the bottom picture, the okra on the left is too large and too hard.  When picked it every day, it should be not more than 2.5-3 inches long, like the okra at the right of the bottom picture. That's just the way it is.  The way God made it.  When you try to take shortcuts, miss a day here or there or do it your way, it's a waste of time.  Nothing edible comes of it.  I often complain that "every day it's something else!".  Every damn day!  Seems like I'm tested every day.  But then this okra makes me think, maybe it's because I have to be picked every day.  Would I stay in His presence if He wasn't plucking me every day?  Probably not..........
