This morning I was in a low spot. I was just thinking, Lord, I don’t have anything to share with my friends this morning. I can’t hear your voice. I can’t feel your presence. No “Happy Sunday Saints” for me today! But in my devotional reading, I read that “When we share a testimony, we are loaning our faith to others. When we listen to a testimony, we are borrowing faith from others.”….Mark Batterson. I kinda read right past that. Didn’t highlight it. Didn’t underline it. Just moved on. But then I took a moment to catch up on Facebook, and there right up front in my timeline was a note from a friend sharing her testimony. And what a testimony it was! It spoke of previous “failures”, of stepping out fearfully but faithfully and most important of God’s great reward. And just like that….BAM !!……I was inspired and had something to say. Just like that, her testimony allowed me to borrow on her faith in a moment when mine was failing and to be reminded of who HE is. Even the strongest of us have our moments of weakness. Being a Christian does not mean that we don’t have moments of doubt and disappointment. Trust me, we do! This is when a strong network of support and of like values is so important. It allows us to borrow on the faith of others when we need it. It allows us to be reminded that even though we know He is good and that He is working “for” our good, it doesn’t always feel good. Sometimes all we can do is give him our broken Hallelujah and answer “Thy Will Be Done”.
And so my friends, I am happy to lean on “borrowed faith” and say HAPPY SUNDAY SAINTS! :-)
