Love Wins

Over the past 30 days, I have been shown incredible love and kindness. With the loss of my father followed by a winter storm like we’ve never seen followed by broken pipes, flooding hallways and popping floors, rain and hail….gosh, it’s been a lot. But what has been incredible is the human spirit and it’s innate lean towards love and kindness. When we were snowed in without power and heat and then pipes started to burst all over our neighborhood, not once did I hear anyone ask are you Republican or Democrat? Are you Christian or Moslem? Are you Black or White? Instead, what I heard was How can I help? This is why I love my neighborhood, we may disagree on a lot of things, but when someone is in need or is hurting, neighbors shed their personal preferences and reach out to help one another.

So as we close out on February and Black History Month, having relived the atrocities of the past, the heroes who guided us through them, the “firsts”, the inventors, the new shining stars, I have hope. Whether we see it in our lifetime or the next, I believe in the end…..Love wins.
