Cake and Coffee

Cake and Coffee.jpg

Sitting here on Easter Sunday morning thinking about and remembering my father. We would have spent the weekend together planting my garden, fellowshipping with friends, eating barbecue and talking about everything. This morning, he would have awakened early and gotten back on the road to Mississippi. I miss him terribly, but Easter is a time for reflection and new beginnings. When I was home last month, my eldest brother came over for breakfast. He and my Dad had coffee every morning. My Dad’s favorite breakfast was cake and coffee (or potato pie). My brother and I often joked about Daddy making him coffee but never offering him any of the cake (that by the way, my brother made for him). We laughed about that often. So this day, we had us some cake and coffee and toasted to my Dad. I look forward to new beginnings. To more cake and coffee with my big brother.

As you are enjoying your Easter Sunday, I pray you will take time to reflect. If you have lost loved ones this year, remember the good times. Remember that Easter is a time of great hope. We have hope in the One who never leaves us alone. We have hope that there is a better day ahead. We have hope that we will see our loved ones again in that great getting up morning by and by.

Happy Easter Sunday Saints!
